A CHIP fix for Christmas? Yes, Virginia it may be so. In the early morning hours today the House of Representatives released a resolution proposing a very short-term funding fix for the program. (STAT)

Responding to passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, 17 of the nation’s largest patient advocacy organizations endorsed a statement calling on Congress to act “swiftly” to develop short- and long-term plans to stabilize the health insurance market and lower patient costs. Asthma inhalers containing corticosteroids and long-acting beta agonists no longer need to include a boxed warning about asthma-related death, the FDA said after reviewing results from several large trials.

The agency also approved pertuzumab (Perjeta) for use with trastuzumab (Herceptin) and chemotherapy as adjuvant therapy for high-risk HER2-positive breast cancer and converted the drug’s accelerated approval for neoadjuvant therapy to full approval, said manufacturer Genentech.
