Tell us about the company and why you are attending Analytica 2018?

POREX® is a world leader in porous polymer solutions that span diverse markets including laboratory, clinical and medical. Our unmatched technologies address applicational and functional challenges across areas such as absorbing, applying, diffusing, filtering, venting and wicking.

Analytica is an exciting show for us this year as our new liquid handling innovation, the POREX® FORTRESS™ pipette tip filter, will be making its European debut, so attendees will get an exclusive look at this new advancement. Our presence at the show also includes three in-booth presentations that will cover advancements in our overall capabilities, diagnostics, and liquid handling.

What products are you highlighting at Analytica 2018?

The POREX® FORTRESS™ pipette tip filter we are debuting at the show is an inert and additive-free filter that uses a proprietary material to prevent aerosols, cross-contamination and sample carryover, ensuring pure and reliable results. We are also showcasing innovations that speed fluid transfer of diagnostics and optimize chromatography operations for laboratory and medical professionals.

Our “Collection to Detection” solutions include smart enabling porous materials that quicken lab procedures, reducing the cost of methodologies and improving result specificity and accuracy. By offering customized surface energy, reducing oral fluid viscosity in samples and improving absorbency of samples through optimized capillary structures, POREX® diagnostics solutions can advance in vitro diagnostics, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and point-of-care (POC) tests.

In chromatography, our Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) frits, automation and dissolution filters and protein precipitation media help to remove contaminating lipids, salts and proteins. A proprietary sintering process optimizes SPE processes by optimizing column packing and reducing interferences and the number of extractables.

What makes this product different from anything else on the market?

Focusing on the POREX® FORTRESS™ liquid barrier pipette tip filter, what makes it unique is the fact that it is certified as the first pure liquid barrier filter with no additives or contaminants. It has been tested by independent analytical laboratories for its purity to offer lab managers a solution that virtually eliminates cross contamination. The product is a gamechanger for the industry and makes it difficult for lab professionals to continue using traditional nonfiltered pipette tips. It takes purity to a new level.

Which industries will benefit from this product?

The FORTRESS™ pipette tip filter can be used for numerous robotic, manual, diagnostic, or liquid handling operations in the lab, so it can be used for a number of industries. These include clinical researchers in academia as well as in biotechnology and pharmaceutical drug discovery labs, but also in hospitals, diagnostic labs, and blood banks where accuracy is critical.
